Led by MAC professional artists, the new MAC Youth Theatre is run by our Learning & Participation team. It will create and commission brave and relevant new and reinterpreted work, live on the MAC stage.

The MAC Youth Theatre is an ensemble of young people from across Belfast (age 16 - 18 years old). The focus of MAC Youth Theatre is on a collective approach to theatre making, artistic excellence and inclusivity.

Led by MAC artists MAC Youth Theatre will create innovative and contemporary work, through one major production per year. 

Who is it for?

The MAC Youth Theatre is for young people age 16 - 18. The applications are currently closed, but if you'd be interested in registering your name for the 2018/19 academic year, read on...

As a participant, you’ll become part of the MAC family and will join us to create artistically excellent theatre, inclusive to all. 

This is a life changing opportunity to develop theatre skills and perform live on the MAC stage. You’ll also receive mentoring from some of Belfast’s most talented professionals and gain an accredited Arts Award qualification, to formally recognise your work and development. 

How it works

Weekly rehearsals start in September 2017 and these will build towards a performance scheduled at Easter, 2018.

It is free to audition for MAC Youth Theatre and for those successful at the audition stage, participation in MAC Youth Theatre will cost £50 per term with a means-tested bursary scheme available.
