The resource pack focuses on the current exhibition Shonky: The Aesthetics of Awkwardness. Curated by artist John Walter, this exhibition brings together international artists and architects to explore the nature of visual awkwardness.

Who is it for?

This resource is designed for use by teachers and group leaders to support and enrich your class visit to the exhibition.

As well as providing further information on selected items, the resource explores the exhibition through a range of different underlying themes found within the works which include:

How it works

This pack is designed to guide your pupils through the MAC’s current exhibition, encourage them to investigate the work of the artists and give them space to explore their responses to the work.

As you travel through the gallery use the pack to record experiences. Use the questions to investigate the work further.

Guided School Tours:

A school guided tour of our exhibition costs just £3 per pupil. Guided tours are provided by one of the MAC’s experienced front of house officers or curators.
