It’s all going on at the MAC. Talks, tours and activities around the clock. So, we’ll be looking for some enthusiastic volunteers – people of all ages to help us showcase all the MAC has to offer and deliver a first-rate visitor experience.
The Role of Volunteers
Volunteers at the MAC will be members of a progressive team. Working within this state of the art building you will have the opportunity to try something different, develop your skills and contribute to establishing the MAC as a leading edge venue for Belfast.
The MAC is looking for volunteers to get involved across all activities during daytime hours, evenings and weekends. The MAC volunteer shifts will be flexible to fit your lifestyle and availability.

Our volunteers are also known as MACtivists. We currently have opportunities for Gallery Navigators, Workshop Support and Front of House volunteers.

MACtivist Opportunities
1. Gallery Navigator
As a Gallery Navigator, you will welcome visitors to our three art galleries. You will assist visitors with the interpretation of the exhibitions, answering questions and providing support
You will also help to monitor and control the conditions in the galleries to preserve exhibitions and precious works of art.
2. Workshop Support
As a Workshop Supporter, you will assist visual artists in the delivery of creative workshops. Workshop groups will cover all age ranges and may include school groups, youth groups, community groups and families. You will help to encourage all workshop participants to engage and participate fully in the workshop by creating a welcome and comfortable environment.
3. Front of House Support
Front of House Supporters will be the “public face” of the MAC during performances and events. You will support the Front of House team in ensuring patrons have a positive and enjoyable experience from the moment they enter the MAC. You will assist the Front of House team in all activities relating to performances and events. This will include ushering, “Meeting and Greeting” and ensuring a safe and comfortable experience for all.
