As well as our shows and exhibitions, we have interactive workshops and tours for families and people of all ages to take part in.
Relax with your little ones at the MAC on the first Sunday of each month for some fun storytime in our wonderful Family Room.
Places are free but booking is essential.
At the MAC, we're committed to providing the best possible customer service to everyone who visits and we have made the MAC as family friendly as possible.
All of our galleries and theatres are fully accessible, with lifts to all floors. We have baby changing facilities, the entire building is buggy-friendly, we welcome breastfeeding mothers and our café offers reasonably priced children's menus and freshly cooked meals.
To find out more about parking and other info, visit our location page.
Our beautiful Family Room, located in the Substation on the ground floor, is for little kids (and big kids) to visit and spend time lost in a book, play games or simply hang out and relax. It is a fun, vibrant space filled with everything from carefully selected books, entertaining monthly Story Time and even some elephants for children to sit on.
The Family Room is open seven days a week from 10am-7pm and on the first Sunday of every month drop in for MAC Storytime.
Pick up a MAC Pack at our box office - a fun activity pack with interesting facts about the MAC, information about what a gallery is and a theatre, a colour wheel and viewfinder to help you with your activity sheets, which you can keep.
We have activity sheets for all ages: 2-3years, 4-6 years and 7-11 years.
We have a babes-in-arms policy which applies to children under 1yr old. This means that if you want to take a child under the age of 1yr into the theatre they will need to be issued with a complimentary ticket, even though they will not be allocated a seat. This policy applies to our children's shows. It is not possible for us to admit children under 3yrs to shows that are not designed for a family audience, but do check with our Box Office for any additional advice on age guidance for specific shows.
