Visiting the MAC  /  Families  /

At the MAC there’s lots of creative and exciting activities for families to do together.

As well as our shows and exhibitions, we have interactive workshops and tours for families and people of all ages to take part in.

Plan your visit

At the MAC, we’re committed to providing the best possible customer service to everyone who visits and we have made the MAC as family friendly as possible.

All of our galleries and theatres are fully accessible, with lifts to all floors. We have baby changing facilities, the entire building is buggy-friendly, we welcome breastfeeding mothers and our Canteen at the MAC offers reasonably priced children’s menus and freshly cooked meals.

To find out more about parking and other info, visit our location page.

Family-friendly highlights

We’ve lots on offer this Spring, from family workshops inspired by Pop Artist Andy Warhol (who is popping up across all 3 galleries), to a host of shows from the Belfast Children’s Festival.

Check out the What’s On section and select ‘Families’ in the filter to see all of our family fun events.

Babes in Arms policy

We have a babes-in-arms policy which applies to children under 1yr old.  This means that if you want to take a child under the age of 1yr into the theatre they will need to be issued with a complimentary ticket, even though they will not be allocated  a seat.  This policy applies to our children’s shows.  It is not possible for us to admit children under 3yrs to shows that are not designed for a family audience, but do check with our Box Office for any additional advice on age guidance for specific shows.

Pop-tastic weekend workshops

Saturdays and Sundays are filled with family fun workshops for little kids (and big kids too).

This Spring, we have family-friendly workshops led by our professional artists inspired by Andy Warhol. From art and dance, to photography, sculpting and much more – join us to get creative.

MAC workshops are led by our professional artists and last 1 hour. We have workshops suitable for 4-6 years and 7-11 years.

Workshops cost £5 per child and accompanying adults go free.

Details on all family-friendly workshops are available on our Workshops page.
