The Bear
NI Opera returns to the MAC with a story of death, infidelity and passionate love – The Bear by William Walton.
This one act opera has it all.
Based on a Chekhov short story, this is the witty and heart-warming story of Madame Popova, an attractive young widow and Smirnov, complemented by a fast and sizzling score.
NI Opera’s production of The Bear is directed by Oliver Mears and conducted by Nicholas Chalmers and stars Andrew Rupp, Anna Burford, and Irish bass, John Molloy. The show also includes a selection of songs by George Shearing, performed by a local choir.
