In 1972, David Puttnam visited Northern Ireland for the first time to launch one of his earliest films as he was fascinated and troubled by the events unfurling here. One person who stood out from the crowd at the time was the “fighting Irish girl MP”, as described on the front cover of Bernadette Devlin McAliskey’s remarkable book 'The Price of My Soul'.
Some 50 years later, David and Bernadette will meet again to reflect on their respective journeys over the last half century, and consider the outlook for the next fifty years. Both individuals are fully committed to building a fairer more just society. Both live in different parts of Ireland and each in their own way believe that this island can play a global role in addressing climate change - the greatest challenge of our times.
