Come and create colourful costumes, hear spooky stories, and make lots of noise with drums at our Halloween special - a whole morning of workshops for kids aged 7-11yrs.
Drawing inspiration from current exhibiting artist Korakrit Arunanondchai, we will look at Halloween traditions around the world. Children will enjoy a whole morning of storytelling, costume-making, and drumming in our spooktacular ghostly celebration at the MAC. Coming dressed for the occasion is definitely encouraged! But you'll also get to try on some of our costumes too. The morning will end with our own ghostly parade through the MAC!
Korakrit is from Thailand, a diverse country with many different cultural celebrations throughout the year including a special celebration called Phi Ta Khon. People celebrate Phi Ta Khon by dressing up in colourful costumes and wearing masks that resemble old ghosts.
Part of this tradition is to walk in a parade, make lots of noise with drums, and wear bright clothes to scare away bad spirits. People also tell stories to celebrate their ancestors. Come get inspired by different traditions and create your own spooky celebration!
Info for parents/guardians: There's no need to stay for these workshops. Why not grab a coffee or bite to eat at our CaféBar or visit our galleries? Or simply use your free morning for some me time and collect your kids at the end.
As this is a 3-hour session, you are very welcome to provide a packed lunch or snacks for your child. There will be breaks for snacks throughout the morning. Please contact [email protected] if your child has any food allergies that we need to let other parents know about.
