A December workshop that's not all about Christmas! (But your finished artwork will make a great gift!)
In this workshop, you’ll get to write a poem and decorate it with petals that have been pressed using the ancient art of flower pressing - which can be traced back to 16th-century Japan!
In the session for older kids (approx. 8-13yrs), we’ll help you find inspiration from other poets like the Romantics who loved writing about nature. We'll also be on hand to help you find rhyming words or the perfect rhythm, or decide on a theme for your poem.
You don't have to go along with a nature theme - you could juxtapose your flower art with your words, or create a poem with no rhymes at all. It's up to you.
In the session for younger kids (approx. 5-8yrs), we'll help you rhyme and use writing techniques or there will be ready-made printed poems to decorate instead. It's up to you.
Our artist facilitator will be on hand to help.
Once you have your poem written out, you'll get to choose which pressed petals, leaves, and flowers you'd like to place around it and design the layout.
At the end of the workshop, each participant will have their own beautiful and unique A3 artwork on thick paper - a great gift in time for Christmas.
Please note: Session 1 at 11am is aimed at 5-8yrs and Session 2 at 1pm is aimed at 8-13yrs.
