By evolving to face down the challenge of lockdown, we’ve turned our Downstairs Theatre space into a state of the art Audio Lab. The thinking being, if you can’t come to our place, we’ll come to yours.
We’re using it to record all sorts of good stuff, the first being an episodic play of eight separate stories, written by eight different local playwrights, all set on a typical Belfast street during COVID-19 lockdown.
It’s called, On The Street Where We Live and explores love, tragedy and redemption; hope, compassion and forgiveness. It’s funny and upbeat; tragic and heart-wrenching. It’s about real people leading unreal lives. It’s about the times we’re living through. It’s about the streets we’re living on.
All eight of the 10 minute long episodes are now available to enjoy. Listen to them at once, or over a few days or weeks. We’ve listed them below in a recommended order for your enjoyment, but if you want to mix them up that’s ok too!

Rhiann is a Freelance Theatre Director and Associate Director for Prime Cut Productions. Rhiann recently directed a short film by Jan Carson, The Pause Between Now and Next for the Irish Arts Centre, New York, in association with the Lyric Theatre, and Ensemble Colours, a community project developed with Prime Cut. Recent directing credits include: Belfast 2050: Under the Albert Clock produced by the Lyric Theatre in association with Origin Theatre Company (New York Times Critics Pick; Life From Time, a short film by Caoileann Curry-Thomspon; No Explanation, a short film by Kyron Bourke; VERGE, new play readings for Prime Cut Productions; Glory: Desire, for NI Opera Studio; The Right Twig, for Fighting Words; The Tempest, for Rose Bruford College; Everyday I Wake Up Hopeful, by John Patrick Higgins for Prime Cut Productions.
Amanda’s career in the creative industries began as an arts and entertainment journalist. Since then, she has more than 20 years’ award-winning experience in TV drama as a script editor, storyliner and producer before turning her attention to writing. She has showcased plays at Belfast’s Outburst Queer Arts Festival, including This Shit Happens All the Time, her response to homophobic hate crime. Amanda has been published in flash fiction and short story anthologies and she is developing work with The MAC where she is a Hatch artist. Her play Distortion was showcased by Prime Cut Productions in Belfast and in Dublin by The New Theatre. Amanda is the showrunner for On The Street Where We Live and her play Lolly features in the series.
Garth has worked extensively as a Composer, Sound Designer, Musical Director, Arranger and Music Producer for studios, theatre, film and television. Garth’s work has been performed and broadcast all over the UK, Ireland and internationally as part of theatrical productions, exhibitions, art installations, television and radio.
