Our Children’s Artist in Residence Rachel Fitzpatrick’s focus is to create a programme that is playful, encourages curiosity and is of course fun!! Workshops are run by highly skilled creative Artist Facilitators who are experts in their artistic field.
Our artists are selected to introduce new skills or learn about exciting materials and connect these to the themes children can see and explore through in our galleries.
The workshops are also selected to promote wellbeing, stimulate creativity, develop skills, and make friends. We host 3 children’s workshop’s a month; a free family drop in our playroom where all materials are provided, and all ages are welcome; our other workshops introduce materials or develop skills. For example; we were inspired by flowers during our exhibition ‘I see his Blood upon a Rose”. We have welcomed culinary artist Erin Bunting to show us how to create icing from petals and leaves to decorate cookies.
Our printing artist Ruth Osbourne showed us how to expertly create inks from flowers with while musician Joe Loughlin led us to create beats in a drumming circle. We’ve created clay “Worry Monsters to whisper our troubles too with Ciara Campbell, and Festive Porcelain decorations with Brendan Fitzpatrick to decorate our house at Christmas. We have created crazy sculptures with our bodies in the gallery with Vasiliki Stasinaki and drawn in the dark with Hayley Darbyshire – what will be get up to next!
