Each year, the ArtistTeachers undertake a training intensive with the MAC, along with independent fellowship days.
During the intensive in year 1, the ArtistTeachers worked with five professional socially engaged artists, exploring concepts related to communal learning, student-centred approaches, and socially conscious engagement via artistic mediums such as free-drawing, screen-printing, and cyanotyping. Following the intensive, the ArtistTeachers had six days each to pursue independent professional development and studio time. Our ArtistTeachers have utilised the MAC as a studio as part of their Fellowships, honing their creative skills, practicing new artforms, and dedicating time to their own artistic practice. They also participated in a variety of professional development workshops funded by the MAC.
