Each school spends four days per year in residence at the MAC, bringing a group of students for the day to utilise the building, explore and respond to our exhibitions, and try new lessons that might not be achievable during their normal class time.
In year one, we hosted over 200 students and teachers at MAC across the 24 visits. Students engaged with three of our exhibitions (The Shake, The Weight of Light, and I See His Blood Upon the Rose), had talks, tours, and took over the MAC as their classroom space. Students used the galleries and the MAC building to explore drawing, painting, photography, and architecture. They were able to break out of traditional classroom structures, unrestricted by uniforms and bells, having self-directed time and independent exploration.
