We're excited to report record-breaking ticket sales this Christmas with nearly 19,000 people seeing A Christmas Carol, Deck the Falls or attending family workshops.

Every year we produce our own Christmas show and 2019 saw a unique festive spin with a fun-filled family version of the classic Dickens tale, A Christmas Carol. 16,906 tickets were sold for the show which included more than 5,000 school children from 51 schools from across Northern Ireland.

Over the Christmas period more than 31,000 visitors were welcomed through the MAC’s doors. The café bar also had a bumper festive season with an uplift in year on year sales recorded. The management of the café bar was taken in-house last November (2018). This success was a combination of customers coming along to see the shows, enjoying food and drink in the café bar, as well as corporate customers who celebrated their Christmas parties at the MAC with either pre-show parties or dinners in our private spaces.

Commenting on the success of Christmas, Áine McVerry, Commercial Director at the MAC, said “Christmas is always an exciting time of year at the MAC, with so much creativity, festive spirit and energy. We are delighted with the success of A Christmas Carol which we have produced at the MAC, and that families, children and adults of all ages came to see the wonderful performance.

“We are also pleased that many more people took the opportunity to eat or drink at the MAC café over Christmas. Every extra penny we make goes right back into what we do best, creating a space that kick-starts connections between people and art.”

Our 2020 Christmas show will be announced in February.
