Family Days out at the MAC

We have been having lots of fun at the MAC this half term, find out how you can get involved in the fun over the Christmas break

This Halloween we were delighted to welcome families to explore our spaces at the MAC with a range of activities and workshops to suit everyone from your scaredy-cat to your creepy crawler.

We had an extra special Halloween themed Petting Zoo where kids and adults alike came up close to snakes, spiders and all manner of foxes and frogs.

We told Terrifying Tales and Frightful Fables of witches, wolves, vampires and ghouls, and got crafty creating creepy critters using clay and natural materials like twigs, leaves, shells and seeds.
See our video below to see more of what we got up to…

If you loved our Halloween workshops, or you missed out never fear. We are bringing another selection of fantastic Family Workshops back for Christmas.

With Baby Wrappers allowing crawlers to journey through scrunchy paper and tunnels of wrapping in this multi-sensory festive experience, perfect for babies who love to crawl.
(1 – 2  December)

Or why not join us for some festive Holly Jolly singing fun at the MAC. It’s time to share some Christmas cheer and sing your favourite Christmas classics. We’ll be cheering on Rudolf, decking the halls and counting down the days of Christmas. Sleigh bells will be provided, but feel free to bring your own. (16 – 24 December)

Or get crafty in our Self-Made workshops where your creative genius can design and decorate their own light up shoe into a trainer, football boot, ballet pump, high heel... the possibilities are endless!
Glam them, bling them, get creative with pattern and texture and take home a fantastical keepsake shoe. (15 – 30 December)

We also have  Festive Fables where you will be transported to a world of imagination as you open the pages on festive storybooks, full of magic and enchantment. (16 – 24 December)

Join us on Christmas Eve for a special edition of this workshop, where we'll be reading 'Twas the night before Christmas'

Why not take the whole family to enjoy our very special Christmas show The Elves and the Shoemaker.

Presented with our partners, the award-winning children's theatre company Cahoots NI, this festive season we’re lifting hearts and tickling funny bones with our own version of the classic fairy tale.

It's the story about the kind-hearted cobbler who gets a helping hand from a party of nocturnal pixies.  Expect laugh-out-loud capers and keep your eyes out for some of the fairyland’s best-known characters who just might pop up to make it Belfast’s funniest, festive family show.
Suitable for all ages. (27 Nov 2018 - 6 Jan 2019)
