New Visions Symposium 2025
On 1 March we brought together artists, educators, and thinkers to explore ideas around reimagining arts education and the current challenges in post-primary school education in Northern Ireland.

The day was packed with dynamic events, from thought-provoking panel discussions to hands-on immersive workshops. We heard from a varied lineup of artists, educators, facilitators, and educational specialists, each bringing their unique experiences and expertise to the table. Their insights illuminated the many ways in which arts education can empower, inspire, and transform individuals and communities alike.
At its core, the day was about collaboration and innovation. The way we learn, teach, and engage with the arts is constantly evolving, and this event reaffirmed that education is more than just the transfer of knowledge—it’s about cultivating creativity, fostering dialogue, and encouraging critical thinking. Through storytelling, shared experiences, and interactive learning, we explored how the arts can break down barriers and create meaningful connections across disciplines and communities.
But don’t just take our word for it—here’s what our attendees had to say:
"Great to know there are so many like-minded people who are striving in a practical and impactful way to positively influence and deliver change."

"Each event was very inspiring. Each person had so much passion and care for what they do whether it be teaching, organising programmes or facilitation. Well done to everyone involved, excited to hear more about this wonderful programme."

"I feel reenergised and determined to collaborate and share good practice and chase ‘fresh’ approaches to my own practice as an artist and teacher."

We want to say a thank you to all of our attendees for their contributions throughout the day, The Freelands Foundation for supporting this event and to our Artists for sharing their wealth of knowledge and experience.
