Rage Against the Play Machine: Summer Intensive 2022
Tinderbox Theatre Company, in partnership with the MAC, is thrilled to announce the Rage against the Play Machine programme; a one-week physical theatre intensive exploring creative activism and Protest theatre taking place 7th-11th June (Group 1) and 13th-17th June (Group 2).
This is a great opportunity for artists to re-discover and re-spark their authentic stories, voice and bodies so they can feel freedom, strength and confidence in their own creative practice.
The programme will be delivered by Tinderbox’s Artistic Director and award-winning writer, Patrick J O’Reilly, who trained at the International School of Jacque Le Coq in Paris and ArtHaus Berlin. Patrick aims to create theatre spaces that challenge, inspire and celebrate artist authenticity and creative freedom. Patrick is a member of the Movement Directors Association and was recently nominated by the National Lottery for his active creative role during the pandemic.
Tinderbox's work actively reflects and provokes the need for social change and previous productions such as Ubu the King, The Man Who Fell to Pieces, Sylvan by Jonathan M. Daley, Immaculate by Louise Mathews and their International collaboration with Manifesto Poetico are radical examples of rebel theatre both in form and content.
The Intensive includes:
• Devising theatre practice
• Improvisation
• Physical theatre technique
• Proclamation (text analysis)
• Artist Manifesto (creating your own manifesto)
• Artist Health and Well-Being
• Embodiment
The fee for the weekly masterclass is on a Pay-What-You Can basis. There are 15 spaces available per group (7th-11th June (Group 1) and 13th-17th June (Group 2)). The programme will take place at the MAC Belfast.
