Heaney’s acclaimed translation of Book VI, which tells the moving story of Aeneas’ descent into the Underworld to look for his father, was his last great project and the culmination of a lifelong engagement with the work.

In this intimate realisation, Stephen Rea and cellist Neil Martin – friends of Heaney who knew and worked with him for more than 30 years – perform the extraordinary Book VI in a dialogue combining words and music.

Stephen Rea and Neil Martin said: “To have the opportunity to embrace and realise Seamus Heaney’s sublime text, a triumph of human achievement, is one of the greatest honours imaginable. We unearth new findings with every single performance”.

This collaboration was commissioned by Kilkenny Arts Festival in 2016, being performed in Dublin and New York before taking centre stage in the intimate surroundings of the MAC's Luminaire Club next month.

Tickets for Aeneid: Book VI at the MAC are on sale now at www.themaclive.com or call the box office on 028 90 235 053.
