Details
This I See His Blood Upon The Rose observational drawing session, led by Duncan Ross, invites you to draw in the gallery from historical artworks.
You'll get to explore drawing in a variety of media, including graphite and oil pastel to generate a range of responses to the gallery artworks. Techniques will include using tone and line to depict form, volume and the effects of light; exploring composition in terms of balance, emphasis and symmetry; and considering different forms of mark-making. There'll be opportunities to discuss and apply narrative and thematic concerns within your drawings that respond to works in the exhibition, such as tension, humour and pathos, suggestion, allegory and illusion.
The sessions are facilitated by Duncan Ross who has over twenty years experience working with drawing and visual art education. Duncan’s work includes illustrating for 'The Vacuum' magazine between 2002 and 2014, facilitating The Tuesday Drawing Studio, a weekly open-access art workshop, between 2013 - 2018, and Skull (2016 - present), a monthly long-form live drawing event.
This session is suitable for all levels of ability.
Programmed as part of I See His Blood Upon The Rose exhibition - you can also book exhibition tickets here.
The MAC reserves the right to cancel this event if the minimum number threshold is not met. Any event bookers will be contacted by our team and receive a full refund if unfortunately the event has to be cancelled.
