The MAC is about making Northern Ireland a better place by creating space for people to imagine, enjoy, participate in and create art.
Since opening in 2012 in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter, the MAC has played a leading role in the city centre’s regeneration. We are now one of Northern Ireland’s top visitor attractions, an award-winning home for the arts and a champion for social change. We have welcomed over 2.6 million visitors to our galleries, theatres, event and social spaces and we connect with an active social media audience too.
The MAC is also a charity, it exists for everyone – always for the many, never the few. We live this in many ways: through our outreach work, through affordable ticket prices, through our free playroom for families, subsidised transport for school groups, and close partnerships with some of our socio-economically deprived communities here in North Belfast and across Northern Ireland.
The MAC is in the business of helping Northern Ireland achieve its full potential. We understand that Northern Ireland’s economic success is intrinsically linked to positive social change, underpinned by a vibrant arts and cultural sector. Last year alone the MAC worked with 50,574 people from our poorest neighbourhoods including people who are struggling with addiction, mental ill health, homelessness and children living in poverty.
