A special workshop programmed in association with Participation and the Practice of Rights and NI Mental Health Arts Festival.
Like the REM song says, Everybody hurts sometimes. We know that life can throw bad stuff at us all, causing emotional pain and trauma.
We all have a right to good mental health care, to help us heal from such painful experiences. Sadly however, our current one-size-fits-all approach, with its overreliance on medication, isn’t working. There’s not enough focus on things that can and do help, like access to the arts and nature.
It’s time to have an open conversation about mental health. We all have ideas that come from our own experiences and hard-won wisdom. We’d love you to join the conversation.
This 2-hour workshop will utilise a mix of information, storytelling, discussion and creativity. Participants will have an opportunity to create their own New Script for Mental Health.
This workshop has been programmed by the MAC in partnership with Participation and the Practice of Rights and NI Mental Health Arts Festival who are delighted to be celebrating their 10th anniversary along with Festival Partners.

NI Mental Health Arts Festival continues to challenge the stigma associated with talking about our mental health & wellbeing, highlighting the pivotal role that creativity, the arts and self-expression can have upon our mental health & wellbeing.
NIMHAF recognise the ongoing potential of partnership working, building & nurturing compassionate & creative communities, and supporting them thrive.
NIMHAF are indebted to all Festival Partners, Funders, our artists and cultural organisations, our community champions who along with a dedicated Board and Team of volunteers, with lived experience, channel their energy, skills & expertise into delivering NI Mental Health Arts Festival for ten years.
