Join us for a rehearsed reading of Ottilie by Richard Clements performed by Rachel Tucker, and directed by Matthew McElhinney.
This special rehearsed reading of a new one-woman show is based on the life of Northern Irish blues singer, Ottilie Patterson, and features West End and Broadway star, Rachel Tucker, in the titular role. Best known for playing Elphaba in Wicked, Olivier nominated Rachel has recently performed as a guest star in Sunset Boulevard.
After the success of their collaboration on How to Bury a Dead Mule at Edinburgh Fringe 2023, actor/writer Richard Clements and director Matthew McElhinney are back with a new script that takes a uniquely imaginative and poetic look at the life of the forgotten first lady of Irish blues - the story of a young girl from Comber who rises to stand shoulder to shoulder with the very best before disappearing into relative obscurity.
An extraordinary career brought to life for the first time on stage in this “early development” ahead of a proposed full production in 2025.
