About the Artists

David Holmes

David Holmes is a Belfast born DJ & producer. In his varied professional life, he has produced five of his own albums and over 30 film soundtracks.

Albums

David’s first solo record, This Film’s Crap, Let’s Slash the Seats was released in 1995, and plugged into his most enduring and vital source of musical inspiration – cinema. 1997 saw the release of Let’s Get Killed; and 2000’s Bow Down to the Exit Sign was created as the soundtrack to a not-yet-made movie, and which featured a unique collection of collaborators including Martina Topley Bird, Jon Spencer & New York poet Carl Hancock Rux. David staked out new creative ground as part of the band, Free Association & in 2003 David Holmes Presents the Free Association was released. Like his solo efforts, the album received commercial and (massive) critical acclaim. His last solo album, The Holy Pictures (2008) was nominated for the Irish Choice Music Prize, Ireland's answer to the Mercurys as well the Meteor Awards which featured David singing for the first time. David’s ‘The Dogs Are Parading’ was released in 2009 a best of that takes you on a journey through one of the most creative and musically cinematic minds of the last two and a half decades

David Holmes' band UNLOVED, a collaboration with Keefus Green and Jade Vincent takes inspiration from classic Disney films, Raymond Scott, the Shangri Las, the BBC Radiophonic Workshop and Jack Nitzsche. Unloved released their debut album in March 2016. Their second album ‘Heartbreak’ was released in February 2019 and their music has formed the Soundtrack to all 4 seasons of the hit BBC America ‘Killing Eve’ starring Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer. David won a BAFTA for his ‘Killing Eve’ score in 2019. He subsequently scored the second, third and fourth and final series of ‘Killing Eve’.

A new solo single ‘Hope Is The Last Thing To Die’ emerged late in 2021 featuring vocalist Raven Violet. A follow up ‘It’s Over, if we run out of Love’ also featuring Raven was released in February 2022. Both singles were A-listed at BBC 6 Music.

Film & TV Scores

In recent years, David’s work for film has flourished. His successful partnership with director Steven Soderbergh was developed on films ‘Out of Sight’ (1998) & Ocean’s 11(2001), and this has continued through sequels ‘Ocean’s 12’ and ‘Oceans 13’ and more recently in ‘The Girlfriend Experience’ (2009) / ‘Haywire’ (2011) / ‘Logan Lucky’ (2017) / ‘Mosaic’ (2018) / ‘The Laundromat’ (2019) and ‘No Sudden Move’ (2020).
