To celebrate Refugee Week we’ve teamed up with Anaka Women’s Collective to host a morning of Persian, Arabic and Sudanese culture facilitated by Iranian, Sudanese, and Yemeni artists and creatives. Drop in to any of the sessions below, perfect for families and individuals.
Mahsa Jahangirpour is facilitating a drop-in calligraphy workshop in for people to learn the art of Persian Calligraphy, which is a highly esteemed art form in Persian culture.
Asma Abdallah, who is from Sudan is treating us to her homemade Sudanese Sweets. Asma will share her love Sudanese culture and food.
Henna design and painting is facilitated by Yusrah Haroun Hammad, who is an experienced architect from Sudan has been living in Belfast for four years.
Anfaal Almughallis and Raha Shafiei is hosting a free drop-in workshop in our Playroom for families called Mask on a Cartoon Bag. Yemeni artist Anfaal and Iranian artist Raha are co-hosting this fun one-off workshop for families and their kids to learn about their culture through creativity.
Join us in celebrating the range of international talent and cultures in our city. all of these workshops are free and are drop-in so pop into the MAC. All are welcome.
The MAC provides a year-round programme for migrant people. We are currently working with The Rainbow Project Gay Ethnic Group delivering a creative writing project led by writer Nandi Jola. Mexican artist Mar Decena is delivering Bridges Through Dance by introducing local and migrant women to Middle Eastern Dance.
