NI Science Festival and Seed Talks present The Science of Parallel Universes: Could the Multiverse Exist?
Science has consistently shown us that we are not special; the Earth is just one of may planets orbiting the Sun, which itself is just one of billions of stars in our galaxy, in a universe containing hundreds of billions of galaxies. So why should it stop there with our universe being unique? Or should we consider that there might be millions of universes out there? Does every choice you make create an alternative reality? Could we ever find out whether these other universes exist, and even communicate with them?
The topic has been explored through countless books, TV series and movies, but how much of what they say about the 'multiverse' is accurate? In this talk Prof Amelie Saintonge will talk you the science behind parallel universes, and how researchers are even attempting to recreate the multiverse in the lab. You will be amazed to see that the science is even more mind-boggling that the fiction!
