It’s all happening at the MAC in 2018, kicking off with the exhilarating and thought-provoking Gilbert & George exhibition which runs until 22 April, and with lots of activities taking place 363 days a year. We would love you to be a part of it.

MACtivists (MAC volunteers) are at the heart of the MAC. We welcome volunteers from all walks of life, whatever their reason may be. Some want to learn new skills, whilst others have a passion for art and live theatre.

If you are interested in joining our MACtivist team on time to be a part of the Gilbert & George exhibition, apply by 2 February 2018. You can also apply throughout the year to join our volunteer team.

Gilbert & George are themselves 100% MAC in their manifesto “what our art means" and from 1970 they proclaimed:

“We want Our Art to speak across the barriers of knowledge directly to People about their Life and not about their knowledge of art. The 20th century has been cursed with an art that cannot be understood. The decadent artists stand for themselves and their chosen few, laughing and dismissing the normal outsider. We say that puzzling, obscure and form-obsessed art is decadent and a cruel denial of the Life of People”.
