Badged as MAC Sessions, the month-long bill kicks off on 12 May with a night of indie-folk music with Irish artists Ailbhe Reddy and Maria Kelly on their ‘Far at Sea’ 2017 Irish tour. Dublin musician Ailbhe Reddy is a singer-songwriter whose deeply personal heart-on-her-sleeve lyrics and a memorable voice lingers with you long after your first taste (Record of the Day, UK).

Followed closely by Indie pop duo Æ MAK with special guests Beauty Sleep on 13 May with a performance that promises to enchant and amaze. Æ MAK's soundscape, visuals and bewitching live performance transport us to another realm. With their vocal harmonies, synchronised choreography and punk-esque performance style, Æ MAK are a fiery live duo.

For something a little different, check out our two film screenings with live scores. First up is The Passion of Joan of Arc, which is hailed a landmark of cinema. The 1928 silent film, directed by Carl Theodor Dreyer, depicts one of history's most captivating women. The film will be accompanied by a new, original live score by musicians Heliopause & This Ship Argo, using layered vocal loops and electronica to emphasise the film’s unusual cinematography. Next up will be Dmytro Morykit’s Metropolis LIVE experience with the epic Fritz Lang classic Metropolis, accompanied by a live piano score by acclaimed composer and pianist Dmytro Morykit.

Last but by no means least, we’re pleased to announce that Belfast-based Isobel Anderson will return to the MAC to launch her new album CHALK/FLINT. Supported by Moving on Music’s Emerging Artist Programme, Isobel will be accompanied by a selection of talented NI musicians to share a daring and innovative collection of new songs.
